| During the spring of
2001, a group of Massachusetts executives formed
a committee to address the technological needs of
all 177 schools in the Archdiocese of Boston. This
committee’s work evolved into CS-CAN, which
today continues to attract public and private resources
to get the job done. The program’s advisory
board includes: John Cullinane, president of the
Cullinane Group and Founder of Cullinent Software;
Peter Bell, former Chairman and CEO of StorageNetworks;
and Joseph Tucci, President of EMC Corporation.
Don McInnis, founder of SpeedSim, Inc., chairs the
program. In total, 66 volunteers serve the program
on such subcommittees as Technology Planning, Fundraising,
NetDay II, Procurement, Public Relations Deployment,
and Systems Administration.
The program has received a federal e-rate grant
of $2,500,000 and substantial endowment and operating
grants from several foundations, such as the William
Randolph Hearst Foundation, the Charles Hayden
Foundation, and Ronald McDonald House Charities
of Eastern New England, Inc., and more. CS-CAN
has received more than $6 million in donations
and gifts over the last two years.
