CSF Young Leader Dinner Committee Member: Kara Hadge

Kara has a way with words. If her writing background doesn’t give it away, then the eloquent and passionate way she speaks of the Inner-City Scholarship Fund (ICSF) certainly does. “A high-quality Catholic education equips students with lifelong skills to engage with the world around them spiritually and intellectually,” she says.  “It provides students a strong foundation to become active citizens, curious individuals, and accomplished professionals.”

Kara has a great point. It’s why CSF and the Young Leader Dinner Committee work so hard to provide scholarships for underprivileged students to attend Catholic schools in the Greater Boston area. The committee is comprised of dedicated young professionals who raise $100K for the CSF’s Annual Dinner Gala. At the heart of the committee are members like Kara who value the impact of their own Catholic education and are committed to providing the same opportunity to other children.

“Attending a Catholic school as a teenager gave me an opportunity to learn about and explore my faith at a time in my life when I was very much in the process of developing my sense of identity,” Kara says of the way her time at Ursuline Academy in Dedham helped mold her into who she is today. “Ursuline’s motto is ‘Serviam,’ which means, ‘I will serve,’ and my six years there instilled in me the importance of giving back to my community in whatever ways I can.”

Kara has been giving back to the ICSF as a committee member for the past three years, proving that the gifts of her Catholic education have remained with her. She’s looking forward to the Dinner Gala this year to hear about the ICSF’s impact from more students.

“Education can change a person’s life,” says Kara, “And CSF shows its supporters what it means to students to experience the life-changing benefits of a Catholic education.” Support Kara and the rest of the Young Leader Dinner Committee as they work tirelessly to reach their $100K fundraising goal and help change students’ lives.
