Ciara Pimentel ’24 is a shining example of how support from the Catholic Schools Foundation (CSF) changes lives.
Through CSF scholarships, Ciara was able to attend Notre Dame Cristo Rey, where she developed the determination and values that continue to guide her journey today.

Now a sophomore at Boston College, Ciara is majoring in Biology on the Pre-Med track, with hopes of becoming a pediatric doctor. Her vision goes beyond medicine: “I’m also passionate about working with kids beyond the clinic creating fun, engaging programs, mentoring them, and connecting families with resources. My goal is to inspire and support children in all stages of life, especially in communities that may not have as many opportunities.”

In a recent letter to NDCR President Sister Maryalyce Gilfeather, SNDdeN also a proud Boston College alum, Ciara reflected on her first year:
“Freshman year at Boston College was an adventure! The beginning was challenging, especially with being away from home and family, but little by little, I found my footing. Classes pushed me in new ways, but I quickly discovered that office hours are a lifesaver, and professors truly enjoy when students visit.”

As she did at Notre Dame Cristo Rey, Ciara continues to step into leadership roles at Boston College. “I applied to become an RA and was selected! I also joined Student Government and the AHANA+ Leadership Council (ALC), which works to uplift and advocate for students of African, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American backgrounds.”

Most importantly, Ciara expressed gratitude for the foundation NDCR gave her:
“Even though I’ve missed the NDCR community, I’ve realized that the skills and values you helped instill in me have stayed with me. They’ve guided me in my leadership roles here and in my efforts to make a positive impact on campus.”
