At the 36th Annual Building Minds Scholarship Fund Gala, the air was filled with more than just celebration—it was filled with a profound sense of responsibility. As Travis and Rachel Rhodes took the stage to accept the 2026 Carolyn and Peter Lynch Award, they didn't just speak about their own achievements; they spoke about the community that makes those achievements possible.
Travis and Rachel’s commitment to Catholic education isn't new. In their remarks, Rachel shared a touching detail: as early as their very first date, the couple realized they shared a deep desire to help children who hadn't been as lucky in their upbringings as they were.
"Our view of the world starts with the idea that nobody achieves success by themselves," Travis remarked. "Those who do—well, I think they’re a little delusional."
While the night honored the Rhodes family for their leadership, including Travis's role as Vice Chair of the Campaign for Catholic Schools and their support for schools like Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy, the couple was quick to turn the spotlight back onto the donors in the room.
Rachel addressed the audience directly, calling them the ones who "fight for kids" and provide the nurturing environments where students like Jada Nguyen (who is Princeton-bound thanks to a scholarship) can thrive.
An Investment with "Infinite" Returns
The Rhodes family’s message was simple: Giving works.
Proven Success: 98% of scholarship recipients go on to college.
Changing Trajectories: A single gift can change a whole family’s future, turning a "lucky break" into a permanent path toward success.
A "Home Away from Home": Scholarships ensure that 1 in 8 students in the Archdiocese of Boston has access to a safe, faith-filled education.
Join the Mission
In closing, the Rhodes family reminded us that in serving "the least of these," we find our greatest purpose. Whether it is $20 or $2,000, every gift to the Catholic Schools Foundation is an investment in a child’s story.
