Spotlight on Inspiration Scholar: Violet

Spotlight on Inspiration Scholar:Violet from East Boston Central Catholic School, Inspiration Scholars for the Class of 2030.
The Catholic Schools Foundation (CSF) proudly congratulates Violet of East Boston Central Catholic School in East Boston on being named one of the High School Inspiration Scholars for the Class of 2030.
The Inspiration Scholarship is CSF’s most competitive merit- and need-based scholarship program, providing four years of support for exceptional students to attend an area Catholic high school. Scholars are selected for their academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to serving their communities.
When Violet joined East Boston Central Catholic School (EBCCS) in sixth grade, she brought with her a quiet determination and a love of learning that quickly made her stand out. Intelligent, personable, and deeply motivated, Violet has not only excelled academically but has also become a respected leader and role model within her school community.
“Violet has been a model student since joining EBCCS,” said Principal Robert Casaletto. “She’s consistently on our honors list, admired by her teachers, and respected by her peers. She embodies what it means to be a scholar and a leader.”
Violet’s dedication to learning shines in everything she does. Whether she’s competing with her school’s quiz bowl team, singing in the choir, or leading as a captain in the school’s House Program, Violet approaches each challenge with enthusiasm and heart. She was selected by her teachers to lead Assisi House because of her strong moral character and ability to inspire others, qualities that make her an exceptional example for younger students.
Outside the classroom, Violet’s commitment to service is equally impressive. Each month, she volunteers at the East Boston Community Soup Kitchen, giving her time to support those in need. She’s also a participant in Dive In Commonwealth, a program designed for high-achieving middle school students who love to learn and want to challenge themselves academically.
Joining a new school during middle school can be daunting, but Violet faced that transition with confidence and grace. Moving from a public to a Catholic school, she adapted seamlessly to new expectations. “She made the transition look effortless,” said Principal Casaletto. “Violet’s resilience and positive spirit are remarkable.”
When asked about what inspires her most, Violet shares that one of her favorite books is The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo, a story about courage, hope, and perseverance. “Despereaux is my favorite character because he is able to persevere regardless of whatever situation he is in,” she explained. “Having hope in something is great.”
Violet brings that same sense of hope and determination to her own life. She recalls how her quiz bowl team won second place last year—a moment that stands out not because of the medal, but because of how far she had come. “I didn’t like the way I performed the year before,” she said. “I lacked courage, and I knew I did. I swore that by the next tournament, I would improve—and I did. I’m proud of myself and my team for how much we grew.”
Looking to the Future
Violet dreams of joining a high school community where curiosity, compassion, and collaboration flourish. She hopes to continue challenging herself academically while also learning more about who she is and how she can make a difference in the world around her. With her confidence, faith, and drive, Violet is ready to take on every new opportunity that comes her way.
The Catholic Schools Foundation celebrates Violet as a shining example of intelligence, grace, and resilience. Her leadership, empathy, and unwavering commitment to learning make her a true Inspiration Scholar. Congratulations, Violet — your future is bright, and we can’t wait to see all you will accomplish!
