Spotlight on Inspiration Scholar: Gianelle

Spotlight on Inspiration Scholar: Gianelle from Sacred Heart School, Inspiration Scholars Class of 2030

The Catholic Schools Foundation (CSF) proudly congratulates Gianelle of Sacred Heart School in Roslindale on being named one of the High School Inspiration Scholars for the Class of 2030.

The Inspiration Scholarship is CSF’s most competitive merit- and need-based scholarship program, providing four years of support for exceptional students to attend an area Catholic high school. Scholars are selected for their academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to serving their communities.

Principal Caitlin Sullivan describes Gianelle as insightful, kind, and hard-working — qualities that shine through in both her academics and her relationships with others. “Gianelle is a dedicated scholar whose hard work has resulted in her consistently earning top grades and MAP results that outscore both the archdiocesan and national norms,” Sullivan shared. “She thrives in both analytical and adaptive tasks, so she’s a regular leader in our STEM projects.”

In addition to her academic achievements, Gianelle is an active member of her school dance team and serves as a scholar-ambassador, representing Sacred Heart in the community with grace and enthusiasm. Her leadership extends to everyday moments — she is the first to welcome new students, ensuring that every scholar feels included and connected. “Gianelle serves as an example of scholarly engagement to all of the middle school floor,” Principal Sullivan added.

When asked about her favorite book, Gianelle chose Little Women by Louisa May Alcott — and specifically, the character Jo March. “Jo March and I are both stubborn, determined, and seek freedom,” she explained. “There are many more characteristics we both share, and because we have similar traits, it’s easy to relate to her.”

Gianelle credits Jo’s resilience and individuality as a lasting influence in her own life. “When reading Little Women, I’ve learned many lessons from Jo, and I continue to remember them and use them in my everyday life.”

One of Gianelle’s proudest accomplishments came through her passion for dance. Her team received a special recognition award at the Onstage America dance competition — not for technique, but for their “energy and overall vibe on stage.”

“The award meant so much because it showed that others could see all the effort and time we put into our dance,” she said. “We spent hours in the studio critiquing every detail, and knowing that hard work paid off meant a great deal to me.”

Looking to the Future

After college, Gianelle envisions herself pursuing a career in music and performing arts or sports management — fields that combine her creativity, confidence, and love for teamwork. She hopes to move to Los Angeles or New York City, where she can explore opportunities in entertainment and sports.

“I want to have a good influence on people,” she said, “whether that’s through a performance I did or recording a huge moment for a sports team.”

The Catholic Schools Foundation celebrates Gianelle as a shining example of dedication, creativity, and compassion. Her hard work, leadership, and courage to grow make her a true Inspiration Scholar. Congratulations, Gianelle — we can’t wait to see all that you will accomplish in high school and beyond!
