Former St. Mary’s Principal Remembered With Memorial Bench and Gift to Support Students.

The Melrose community came together to honor the life and legacy of former St. Mary’s School principal Helen Blinstrub—affectionately known as “Miss B”—with a memorial bench dedication and a meaningful gift to the Catholic Schools Foundation. Organized by four close friends whose children all attended St. Mary’s during Miss B’s tenure, the tribute reflects her lasting impact on generations of families. The donation supports need-based scholarships across Greater Boston, ensuring Miss B’s lifelong commitment to faith, education, and opportunity continues to shape students’ futures.
CSF Alumni Spotlight: Alejandro Baez From First-Generation Student to Community Advocate

Alejandro Baez’s story is a powerful example of how access to education can ignite lifelong leadership and service. A first-generation immigrant and college student, Alejandro overcame visual impairment, discrimination, and bullying to become a passionate advocate for educational equity and community representation. With the support of a Catholic Schools Foundation scholarship, he thrived at St. John’s Prep, where he developed his voice as a leader, organizer, and bridge-builder. Today, Alejandro continues his commitment to public service through civic engagement, advocacy, and his role on the Methuen Cultural Council—working to ensure opportunity, dignity, and representation for all. His journey reflects the lasting impact of CSF’s mission and the ripple effect of investing in students with purpose.
CSF Scholar Spotlight: Lucais Balurdi '27, Finding His Voice on Stage and Preparing for the Future

Lucais Balurdi, a CSF Class of 2027 Scholar and junior at Central Catholic High School, is pursuing his passions both on stage and in the classroom. From performing in a lead role with Central Catholic’s Theatre Guild to participating in the Boston College Experience College Readiness Program, Lucais is building confidence, independence, and a vision for his future—made possible through the support of the Catholic Schools Foundation.
